FAFSA: Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for federal student aid, you need to complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and quick, and it gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college. Your FAFSA data used to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.

Students must create an FSA ID and password to file and sign the FAFSA. In addition, at least parent of dependent students must create an FSA ID and password to input their information and sign the FAFSA. These can be created at Please have your social security card when you make these IDs to ensure correct spelling of all names and correct social security numbers.
