Chief Communications Officer

Tonia joined Catawba in 1997 as assistant to the President. She moved into her current position January 2001. She holds a B.S. degree in English from ECU and an M.A. degree in English from UNC-Charlotte. Prior to joining the college, she worked as special projects manager at WCNC-TV in Charlotte.

Public Relations Associate

Betsy joined Catawba in November 2015 as Public Relations Associate. Betsy most recently worked as a marketing and administrative assistant at Rowan County Crosby Scholars Community Partnership in Salisbury, responsible for marketing, public relations and administrative functions of this college-access program for Rowan County students. Prior to that, Betsy was employed at Waterworks Visual Arts Center as the marketing and development director, where she designed brochures, wrote press releases, maintained the Center's website and social media, developed its monthly e-newsletter, and even wrote successful grants resulting in awards for education and outreach programs. She also worked as marketing manager at Piedmont Players Theatre, spearheading fundraising events and developing materials to publicize shows and other theatre offerings.


Tracy MacKay-Ratliff
Director of Graphic Design and College Photographer

Tracy Director of Graphic Design & Staff Photographer at Catawba College. She earned a B.A. in Studio Arts from the College of Charleston, S.C. in 1994. With over 20+ years of graphic design experience, she has traveled the country curating her journey as a creative from Florida’s Treasure Coast to Colorado’s Rocky Mountains & back again. With her laptop & camera in tow, she takes a multidisciplinary, hands-on design approach to all projects. She calls Salisbury, N.C. home with her husband, Chris, children, Kenzie & Seamus, and the rest of her Ratliff Clan.

Web Designer/Developer

Maegen joined Catawba in 2005 as Web Designer/Developer and focuses exclusively on creative electronic and media design (websites, Flash, videos, e-cards, mobile apps, e-mails), as well as the design, development and maintenance of the public websites and the majority of Catawba's social media network sites. She holds a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and has worked as a web and print designer since 1995 with clients including DEWALT, Porter-Cable, TimeWarner, UPS Racing, General Electric and Jeff Gordon Racing.
