Our Mission

Mission Statement
Counseling and Disabilities Services supports the mission of the College of integrating the classroom experience with the out-of-classroom experience by helping students maximize their potential in the areas of cognitive complexity, social relations, and personal psychological development. It is the belief of counseling services that all humans are worthy and valuable and that all humans encounter difficulties in daily living. Learning to manage these difficulties is necessary for academic and personal success during and after the college experience. Those with psychological disorders whose troubles extend beyond difficulties in daily living are to be accorded dignity and respect by the college community.

As a result of interacting with the counseling program, students have the opportunity to become better problem managers who rely on their own resources and will know when to seek professional help. Our Office desires to create an environment conducive to personal growth and to create a community of wellness and self-help by providing preventive mental health programs which impact a large number of students, faculty, and staff.
