How Does the ONE Card Work?
The ONE Card is an optional way for students, faculty, and staff to manage their expenses while at Catawba. It acts like a gift card or pre-paid debit card.

Monies credited to the card can be divided across three funds, namely the General Fund, the Bookstore Fund, and the Dining Services Fund. You may add money to any or all of these funds. The following table summarizes the key aspects of each of the three different ONE Card funds.

GENERAL FUND

Where it can be used

Anywhere the ONE Card is accepted: Currently, this is the campus Bookstore, campus Dining Services, local merchants participating in the ONE Card program, and a copier located in the campus Library. In the future, it may include campus printers, additional copiers, vending, and other campus activities.

NOTE: Students must purchase clothing, food, drinks, medicine, etc. from the Bookstore using their ONE Card: General Fund.

How money is added

  1. Credit card via the web.

  2. Cash, check, or credit card in person at the Catawba Business Office

  3. Check or credit card by mail to the Catawba Business Office

  4. Credit card by phone with the Catawba Business Office

Refund policy of unused money

  1. A student may request a refund of any unused balance at any time.

  2. The refunded balance is first transferred to your student account, and then any credit balance on your student account may be refunded as provided by the policies of the Catawba Business Office.

  3. Any unused balance at the end of each term is automatically transferred to your student account, and then any credit balance on your student account may be refunded as provided by the policies of the Catawba Business Office.

BOOKSTORE FUND

Where it can be used

Campus Bookstore: Students can use their ONE Card: Bookstore Fund to purchase books, supplies, and materials related to books, as well as any rental of books, pencils, pens, paper, computer products, etc.

NOTE: Other items in the Bookstore must be purchased using the ONE Card: General Fund.

How money is added

All of the ways money can be added to the General fund, plus:An advance of any expected credit balance on your student account (up to the limit specified by the Catawba Business Office – currently $700 per term). **

This advance is now automatically transferred from your student account to the Bookstore Fund. Select on the link below for more details.

Refund policy of unused money

Same as the General Fund, except that:An automated return of unused money in the Bookstore Fund to your student account will occur after the normal period to buy books has ended. The return will consist of any money that was transferred from an "expected" credit balance on your student account (as opposed to extra money that you added directly to your Bookstore Fund). Any credit balance on your student account as a result of this return may be refunded as provided by the policies of the Catawba Business Office.
