Supplemental Instruction

si-leader.jpgSupplemental Instruction (SI) is a program with a rich history of increasing students’ grades, retention and graduation rates. SI targets courses that student tend to find particularly challenging.

Supplemental Instruction Leaders
SI leaders are students who have already taken and done well in the class. These SI leaders then audit the class again and act as a model student by attending lectures, taking notes and reading all assigned materials. Additionally, the SI leaders conduct three weekly SI sessions to engage students in the material using collaborative learning techniques.

These sessions are also made available to other sections of the same class with the same professor. These SI leaders work closely with both the professor and SI coordinator.
