Dr. Moreland is the Communication Department's mass media specialist. He joined the Catawba College faculty in 1994 after a successful career in radio and television. Among the industry positions held by Dr. Moreland were: coach's show host, morning show host, news director, program director, promotions director, sales representative, and sports director. Dr. Moreland has developed 10 permanent courses and six topics courses for the department and has taught 16 different courses at Catawba.

He has served as the voice of the University of Cincinnati and the University of Nebraska football and basketball networks, as well as the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings Radio Networks. He hosted nightly sportstalk shows in Minneapolis and Cincinnati. He also did play-by-play for The East Carolina Pirates Radio Network for 14 years on a freelance basis.

Dr. Moreland is an instrument rated pilot who flies dog rescue missions for Pilots N Paws animal rescue.

Wittum teaches public speaking and writing/journalism classes and specializes in New Media and Online Publishing. In addition, she is the advisor for the student newspaper, The Pioneer. Wittum taught NADSAP classes in Greece through the University of Arizona, communication classes at North Carolina State University, and communication (business and writing) classes at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) prior to joining Catawba.

Wittum is a professional writer with over 300 publication credits in a variety of national and international magazines. She writes features and a monthly column, Cyber Savvy, for the Salisbury Post.

Professor McDowell-Davis has owned and operated Davis & Davis Marketing, a marketing and public relations firm, since 1998. Her clients have included, among many others,  A&E Television Network, The History Channel, CPFilms, Davidson County Economic Development, Piedmont Airlines, Discus Athletic, Johnson Neurological, Reynolda Village, Quality Mills and Thomasville Chamber of Commerce.

She has authored four books on marketing, advertising and public relations. Professor McDowell-Davis teaches Public Relations and Organizational Communication at Catawba.
