Congratulations to our Winner and Final Three!
The 2007 Salisbury Idol Singing Competition Final is set for Saturday, April 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Keppel Auditorium at Catawba College! The winner of the singing competition will receive a $1,000 grand prize!
Compeition Date and Admission Price
- Top Twelve and Final Competition:
Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Audience admission is $7.
Contestants report at 6:00 p.m.
This is a Singing Competition.
A karaoke machine and screen will not be available for use. Contestants must memorize the songs they will be performing.
Prizes are $1000 winner, $500 second place, and $250 third place. All participants and their families release Catawba College from any liability resulting from their performance and attendance at this event. All participants give Catawba College the unrestricted authorization to use their name, photo, voice recording, video recording, entry materials or likeness in promotional materials without further compensation. Songs performed must be appropriate for family entertainment. The judges and Catawba College reserve the right to disqualify any contestant whose performance, dress attire or song do not meet family entertainment standards.

This contest will have 3 sections: Preliminary, Top Twelve and Final Three.
Preliminary Competition (contestants only)
Final Competition – Top Twelve and Final Three: (public invited at 7:00 p.m.)
- For the finals, all contestants must provide their own backup, karaoke-style CD for two songs. Each song should be no longer than 4 minutes long, and should be appropriate for family entertainment. The CD with music and contestant's name clearly labeled should be submitted to the Music Department no later than Thursday, April 26, 2007 at noon.
- The final competition will be held in Keppel Auditorium at Catawba College. The performance will start at 7 p.m., and the top twelve will report promptly at 6 p.m. The public is invited at 7 p.m. for the top twelve and final competition.
- Contestant order for the final twelve will be randomly drawn.
- The same songs performed at the preliminaries may be performed in the top twelve competition phase. Judges will select the top six performers from the round of twelve after all twelve performers have sung one song, and audience voting for the final three will take place from these six. The Top Three Finals will be chosen based on 50% audience participation and 50% judges decision. In case of ties, judges will make the final decision on the final three.
- The Final Three will perform one more song (different from the first). Order will be determined randomly.
- The audience and judges will vote to select the winners of the 2007 Salisbury Idol competition (50% audience vote and 50% judges' decision).
