Meet the Judges!
- Rory A. Lewis
Rory received his Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering at Syracuse University in 1993. Rory then completed his Jurist Doctor in Law at Syracuse University College of Law with and LT&M specializing in High Tech Patent Law and eCommerce. Rory worked at Fullbright and Jaworski, in Austin Texas, and at Skjervan Morril in San Francisco where he helped on the AMD vs. Intel Lawsuit. Here Rory developed algorithms to prove that portions of electrical circuitry on Intel's processors were stolen from AMD and then disguised onto Intel processors. AMD won.
Rory returned to school to study KDD under the direction of Dr. Ras for his PhD in Computer Science. Rory passed his Qualification Exam in December 2005 and now works on this project. Rory teaches IT classes for MBA students at DeVry University. Rory has two teenage daughters and has a quite successful band.
- Sarah Hall
Sarah Hall is a Lifestyle Reporter at the Salisbury Post. She has a Bachelor's degree in Music Theory and Composition from ASU and a Masters in Music Education from UNC-G. Hall has taught music for Pfeiffer University, RCCC and Rowan-Salisbury Schools and was Director of Education for the Salisbury Symphony 1998-2000.
- Joey Popp
Joey Popp is a 25-year broadcasting veteran, known throughout Charlotte for his television appearances, radio work, documentaries, marketing projects, and commercials. He's a media specialist for numerous corporations and non-profits and he has contributed print reports to the Charlotte Observer. He has also served as emcee for countless galas and fundraisers for groups such as Hospice at Charlotte, Leadership Charlotte, and the Dowd YMCA.
You can see him each week on WTVI, the local PBS station, hosting "Healthwise," a medical interest broadcast that's become a popular show in the Charlotte area. On the radio, Joey can be heard hosting WFAE's "Weekend Edition" every Saturday morning.
Joey is a graduate of Mooresville High School and Catawba College in Salisbury.
