"One of my main interests is that of helping orphans. Pragmatic Christianity is very important to me. In particular, helping the helpless, such as orphans, is a passionate concern of mine. I lead Christian mission trips to Russia and Cambodia each year. I can translate Russian. I am an expert in the reign of Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihanouk, including his overthrow in 1970, his exile in China and North Korea and his return to power by the US in 1993. I also have expertise in how Russian government policies affect Christian mission activities in Russia. My hobbies include chess, racquetball, volleyball and playing the classical guitar."

"I am the advisor to the Math Club here at Catawba and I enjoy working with students outside of the classroom who are interested in math. In the past few years Catawba has sent a team to compete in a Math Jeopardy contest at the Southeastern Regional meeting of the Mathematical Association of America. I also enjoy teaching math to students at all different levels of the curriculum here at Catawba College.

Personally, I enjoy working on my farm and raising and training Border Collies to herd sheep. I have competed in numerous sheep herding trials since I have been at Catawba and in 2006 I qualified to compete in the United States Border Collie Handlers' Association's National Finals in Klamath Falls, Oregon. I was not able to attend but I hope to qualify again in 2007 and attend the finals in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania."
