Who Are We?

The Department of Religion and Philosophy sponsors Catawba Conversations. It is a club in which members of the Catawba College community can come together to consider and discuss topics of interest in a thoughtful, responsible manner. The topics are usually ethical issues which lead us to have great debates. The club presents a broad range of issues, taking note of their philosophical and religious aspects. There is usually a meeting held at least once a month. We try to move the days and times around so that everyone will have a chance to participate in the discussions. Everyone is welcome to join us in discussion. This includes faculty, staff, and students. In the past, we have discussed "Hate Crimes," "Gay Marriage," "Relationships Between Faculty and Student," "Stem Cell Research," "Evangelism," and "Islam."  Refreshments are always provided.

If you know of an interesting topic that you would like to see discussed at a Catawba Conversations meeting, please e-mail us to let us know. You can contact Dr. Seth Holtzman.
