Comments from some recent outside evaluators:

"We recognize religion and philosophy as distinct but related disciplines. Catawba has a department of religion and philosophy and one of its majors is a Religion/Philosophy major. We came with the expectation of finding and evaluating a single department that successfully integrates the two disciplines, not two disciplines in a forced and uneasy alliance. That is exactly what we found. In fact, we were greatly impressed with the sense of collegiality and common purpose of the staff."

"Catawba College is fortunate to have the faculty members in the Department of Religion and Philosophy. They have the necessary academic credentials in each case to teach their subjects but also have a passion in their instruction, a zeal to bring out the best in their students, and a quality of openness to the students."
