Hall of Fame

2014 Induction

New members will be inducted into the Catawba College Athletic Training Hall of Fame on Feb. 22. The induction of the Class of 2014 will take place between noon and 2 p.m. in Peeler Crystal Lounge of the Robertson College-Community Center on campus.

The 2014 inductees are Ronald Ogrodowicz '96 of Stratford, Conn., and Richard Sharpnack '95 of Pitman, N.J.

  • Ron Ogrodowicz was an outstanding athletic training student at Catawba College from 1992-1996.
  • Earned an additional Bachelor of Science Degree in Health & Science Studies from Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn., in 2001.
  • Earned a Masters' of Physical Therapy Degree from Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn., in 2003.
  • Head Athletic Trainer at Quinnipiac University from 1997-2004. Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in 2000.
  • Site coordinator & Senior Physical Therapist for HealthSouth located in Shelton, Conn., from 2004-2007.
  • Manager for Select Physical Therapy in Shelton Conn., from 2007-2012 and Stratford, Conn., from 2012-Present.
  • Earned his Orthopedic Certification Specialist from the APTA/American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2011 and his Certification in Strength & Conditioning from the NSCA in 1997.

  • Deptford, N.J., from 1997-1998.
  • Physician Extender & Orthopedic Technician for Paul Marchetto, M.D. in Marlton, N.J., and Philadelphia, Pa., from 1997-2002.
  • Owner and Business Director of Velocity Sports Performance, Cherry Hill, N.J., and Washington Township, N.J., from 2002 – present.
  • Director of the Sports Medicine Program for the Rothman Institute Marlton, N.J., and Philadelphia, Pa., from 2010 – present.
  • Coordinator of sports medicine coverage for 3 professional teams, 7 colleges/universities and 35 high schools in the Philadelphia, Pa., area. Coordinator and Facilitator for the Philadelphia Eagles/Rothman Institute Sports Medicine Annual Symposium and the Philadelphia Phillies/Rothman Institute Sports Medicine Annual Symposium.

  • Managing Director for Precision Fitness in Cornelius, NC (four rehabilitation clinics) from 2002-2011.
  • President of Fit Responder in Davidson, NC from 2009-present. Provides ergonomic training, fitness & wellness programs and injury prevention services for Fire-EMS and Police.
  • Author of the “Fit Responder: Fitness, Wellness & Injury Prevention for the Public Safety Professional.”
  • Column writer for EMS1.com, Officer.com and the National Strength & Conditioning Association's Tactical Branch, along with serving as an advisor to the Public Safety Athletic Trainers Society.

  • Teacher and Head Athletic Trainer at South Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte, NC from 1988-2001.
  • Completed Emergency Medical Technician Certification from Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, NC in 1992 and served as volunteer fire fighter for the Pineville Fire Department.

  • Chaired the Medical & Safety Committee and provided coverage to the Charlotte Rugby Club, Diamond's Softball Team, Carolina Cobras, local high schools and eight motorsports teams.

  • Marketing Manager for Carolinas Healthcare System, Charlotte, NC, 2003-2004.

  • Responsible for marketing and sales strategies, referral development, contract negotiations, budgeting, event management and improving customer services related to healthcare.

  • Event Coordinator and Athletic Trainer for PIT Instruction & Training, Mooresville, NC, 2007-2009.

  • Provided injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for six motorsports teams.

  • Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC, 1993 – 1995.
  • Director of Rehabilitation Services and Sports Medicine at St. Lucie Medical Center & Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, FL, 1995-2000.
  • Developed first community-wide Sports Medicine Program that provided seven athletic trainers for the seven community high schools in Port St. Lucie, FL.
  • Named Clinical Instructor of the Year at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, 1995.
  • Named JCAHO "Best Leader" and "Best Plan of Care" in 1998 during the St. Lucie Medical Center hospital-wide joint commission accreditation.
  • Currently, Owner/CEO and Physical Therapist for Premier Physical Therapy   & Sports Medicine, Port St. Lucie, FL.
