Special Events

Steinert1.jpgDanceworks

Each year as the culminating project for Catawba’s Dance Ensemble class, Professor Meredith Fox and a company of student (majors and non-majors) present an evening of dance based on their work for the semester. One of the special aspects of Catawba’s Dance Ensemble is the opportunity it presents for young choreographers to stretch their wings under structured guidance and with a ready-made company of dancers of all different skill levels.  This semester’s Danceworks presentation will be held on Friday, December 1 at 7pm in the Florence Busby Corriher Theatre. Look for more details about the choreographers, dancers, and this semester’s theme coming soon!

Visiting Artists

Each semester, Catawba College Theatre Arts brings in a variety of professional performers, directors, designers, agents, playwrights, and Theatre Companies to hold workshops for our students. This fall, we are thrilled to provide our students and the community with two unique opportunities:

  • Catawba Theatre Arts, through generous sponsorship, is honored to host legendary director and choreographer VINCENT PATERSON. Well known for his work on Madonna’s Blonde Ambition tour and Michael Jackson’s Bad tour, among numerous other award-winning films and Broadway productions, Mr. Paterson will be on campus Friday, August 25th for a day’s worth of master classes and an “Inside the Choreographer's Studio” session for both students and community members.

  • strangemen17.jpgAlumnus Amanda Lederer (’10) returns to Catawba with the NY-based company STRANGEMEN AND CO. for which she serves as actor, Executive Producer, and Outreach Director. This fall Strangemen will come to Catawba for a two-day intensive masterclass that begins on Friday, August 25 with an open forum with the company and continues all day Saturday and Sunday, August 26 & 27 with student masterclasses. We are thrilled to welcome Amanda back and hope to extend our relationship with the company in the near future!
