"The Catawba College SEGS program appealed to me because it was targeted at individuals who had experience in the workforce. Students were encouraged to link their "real world" experience with the curriculum being presented. The block structure of classes worked very well for me because of the ability to focus solely on one class at a time and build upon that knowledge."

The class sizes were perfect for learning – enough students to get varying opinions but not too many to fill a lecture hall. What set Catawba apart from other colleges that I attended was the feeling that the professors and staff genuinely cared about me and what I planned to do with the higher level of learning that they were exposing me to each class meeting."

"The SEGS program is a huge confidence builder! After completion of the program, it provided me with the confidence I needed to apply for jobs I probably would have overlooked in the past. For instance, the job I landed after completing the program was a much higher rated job than I previously held. I knew that I had the intelligence and ability to be successful and the program gave me the confidence to convince the hiring committee of the same! I cannot say enough about the boost in confidence and self-esteem Catawba's SEGS program instilled in me.

Once you make the decision to return to school, jump right in. Don't hesitate."

Rob Kincaid '02
Director of Sourcing, Alliance Division of Rock-Tenn Company, Winston-Salem, N.C.

alum_kincaid.jpgRob earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2002 through Catawba's School of Evening and Graduate Studies. He went on to pursue his M.B.A. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from there in 2006.

Here's what Rob says about Catawba:

"Going to graduate school only made me remember what a great platform I had at Catawba. There's no way I would have done what I've done to date without earning my undergraduate degree. And, just because you get your undergraduate degree, that's not the end of it — that's just the ante — it gets you to the table. It makes you more competitive in the workplace.

"I chose Catawba because I wanted a day school education at night. I wanted it all! I was trying to get back something I missed earlier in my life and I did. I got so very much out of my time at Catawba. It gave me a foundation on which to build. It was my honor and my privilege to attend and it's one of the best things I've done in my life."
