Microsoft and Adobe Software Licenses for Student or Faculty/Staff Personal Use
Catawba College is a participant in the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) software licensing consortium. ScholarBuys is the technology reseller who provides the Microsoft and Adobe software licensing to the NCICU software consortium members. This licensing agreement enables Catawba College students, faculty, and staff to purchase personal-use copies of many Microsoft and Adobe software products at a substantial discount only available to NCICU members. Visit the ScholarBuys "VarsityBuys" website for product and pricing details and online ordering.
Purchasing Technology for the College
All computer technology purchases at Catawba College must be approved by and placed by the Information Technology department. Centralized technology purchasing is essential for inventory tracking and software license tracking, to insure the college gets the best price, and to insure that what is purchased is a good fit with the existing hardware and software infrastructure of the College. Departments that are considering a technology solution should involve our office as soon as possible. We can help define the solution requirements accurately, help identify and evaluate alternatives, and facilitate project installation, in addition to doing price negotiations and purchasing.
Academic departments should contact Chad Lewis or create a Footprints IT Service Request to begin this process.
Administrative departments should contact Doug Stanley or create a Footprints IT Service Request to begin this process.
REPLACEMENT POLICY FOR COLLEGE COMPUTER EQUIPMENT
As a matter of policy, Catawba College will replace basic technology equipment on a three-to-five year cycle, based on the recommendations of the Information Technology staff with regard to advancements in technology during such a cycle and on the availability of funding.
