2012 marks the 9th year we have sponsored the annual Thanksgiving Duck Draw project. During the first 8 years, we have provided over 1100 families with Thanksgiving meals. This year we hope to sponsor an additional 150 families and reach the 1250 families fed mark.

Again this year, we will be collecting $1 donations to sponsor a duck that will be floated in a pool in the Stanback Plaza on November 13th.  At that time, we will draw a number of ducks randomly and the person sponsoring that duck will receive a prize.  Prizes will include gift certificates from local restaurants and other donated gifts. As you will remember, our local merchants have been extremely generous and have consistently provided more than 150 prizes each year.  View prizes »
 
Resident Assistants will be visiting offices, residence halls and community members to collect donations.  There will also be a table set up inside the Cannon Student Center at several lunch times during the next few weeks, and you may also stop by the Student Affairs Office to sponsor a duck.  Please consider sponsoring a duck and help us make this Thanksgiving dinner drive as successful as each of the previous years .  
 
You will also see the Residence Life staff selling cotton candy and other items at all home football games. Last year's combined fundraising efforts raised enough money to provide Thanksgiving dinners for approximately 125 local families. The dinners consisted of a 10-12lb turkey, baking pan, rice, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, stuffing mix and box of brownie mix.  We worked with faculty & staff, local school agencies, and local churches  to find families that needed assistance during the holiday.
