High School Students


How To Apply

  2. Each candidate must submit the following items directly to the Office of Admissions:
    1. A completed application for admission;

    2. Either an official copy of the student's high school transcript (a notarized English translation is required when records are in another language), a High School Equivalency Diploma or a certified Adult High School Diploma;

    3. One of the following two items:
      1. An official copy of scores on either the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT - CEEB code #5103) or the American College Testing Program (ACT - CEEB code #3080); View SAT/ACT Policy »
        - OR -
      2. Extracurricular and Leadership Resume
        (For students with a 3.5 GPA or higher who are interested in the test optional program)

    4. The Secondary School Report form completed jointly by you and your counselor.

    5. An optional (required for test-optional applicants) 500-600 word or one and a half page essay* on one of topics below. E-mail essays to
      1. If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
      2. Catawba College seeks to embody the ideals of Scholarship (academic pursuits), Character (ethical behavior), Culture (exposure to artistic endeavors) , and Service (campus and community outreach). Our campus community of students, faculty and staff share these core values. Please reflect on these four ideals and tell us which one (1) of these resonates most strongly with you and why. As a prospective member of the Catawba community, how do you hope to "live" your chosen ideal?
      3. If you were assured you would not fail, what endeavor would you attempt?
      4. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision twice?
      5. Imagine that you have all the money that you need to live comfortably and the skill set to work in or create any career you so desired. What would that career be? Why are you interested in it?

        *The essay is required for test-optional applicants. We will accept a graded written paper in lieu of essay, if student prefers.

To Apply for Financial Assistance

Please follow the procedures below:

  1. Once you have applied for admissions, our Office of Financial Aid will forward information to you including a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  2. You are expected to complete the FAFSA and submit it to the federal processor as soon as possible after January 1st of the year you intend to enter college. Our FAFSA code is 002914.
  3. Once you have been accepted to Catawba College and we have received the valid results of your FAFSA, the Office of Financial Aid will process your financial aid package.
  4. Throughout the spring, we will send you reminders on the status of your financial aid file if it is incomplete.
  5. Please sign and return all necessary forms requested by the Office of Financial Aid in a timely manner. If you do not plan to apply for financial aid, please notify our Office of Financial Aid.
