Application Checklist

How to Apply

  1. Apply Online (no application fee!):

  2. Each candidate for admission must submit the following items directly to the Office of Admissions:

    1. A completed application for admission;

    2. Official Transcript (view sample)

    3. One of the following two items:

      1. An official copy of scores on either the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT - CEEB code #5103) or the American College Testing Program (ACT - CEEB code #3080); View SAT/ACT Policy » 

        - OR -

      2. Extracurricular and Leadership Resume (with required essay)
        (For students with a 3.25 GPA or higher who are interested in the 
        Test Optional Program

    4. Letter of Recommendation from teacher, tutor or community member

    5. Students applying via the Test Optional Program must submit 500-600 word essay* (about a page in length) on one of topics below. E-mail essays to

Catawba College seeks to embody the ideals of Scholarship (academic pursuits), Character (ethical behavior), Culture (exposure to artistic endeavors), and Service (campus and community outreach). Our campus community of students, faculty and staff share these core values. Please reflect on these four ideals and tell us which one (1) of these resonates most strongly with you and why. As a prospective member of the Catawba community, how do you hope to "live" your chosen ideal?
      2. If you were assured you would not fail, what endeavor would you attempt?
      3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again knowing what you know now? Why or why not?

        *The essay is required for test-optional applicants. We will accept a graded written paper in lieu of essay, if student prefers.
