2015 Furry Friends Drive A Success

Thanks to everyone's generosity, we collected:

  • 160 lbs. of dog and cat food
  • 59 lbs. of litter
  • 20 towels
  • Dog treats
  • Chew toys
  • Multiple bottles of Dawn dish liquid (for fleas)

Staff Council sponsors donation drives to benefit dogs & cats waiting for adoption at the following local organizations:

  • Humane Society of Rowan County
  • Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary
  • Rowan County Animal Shelter

The Humane Society of Rowan County has shared that they are currently in need of the following items:

  • Clumping cat litter
  • Dry puppy food
  • Dry kitten chow
  • Dry adult dog food
  • Towels (new or used)

Faithful Friends has shared that they are currently in need of the following items:

  • Blue Dawn Dish Detergent
  • Bleach & Laundry Detergent
  • Clumping Cat Littercatlove.jpg
  • Purina Kitten Chow (yellow bag)
  • Purina Cat Chow (blue bag)
  • Purina Dog Chow (green bag)
  • Purina Puppy Chow (blue bag)

The Rowan County Animal Shelter has shared that they are currently in need of:

  • Canned dog food (used to give medications)
  • Dry Dog Food
  • Dry Puppy Food

The items that overlap will be split between the organizations. Faithful Friends needs brand specific food while other organizations can accept any. For that reason, Faithful Friends will receive any Purina brand food.

Don't have a lot extra right now?
Just one single can of food can really make a difference! It's an affordable and easy way to show our local furry friends how much Catawba Cares!

Collection Locations

Collection boxes for donated items will be located in the following campus buildings:

  • Hedrick Administration Building (1st floor near Registrar's Office; 2nd floor outside Provost's Office)
  • Corriher-Linn-Black Library
  • Abernethy Physical Education Building /Gym (Main desk area)
  • Cannon Student Center (Student Affairs Office)
  • Ketner Hall 2nd floor (near 207)
  • Center for the Environment
  • Hoke Hall Information Technology Area
