Catawba College's Blue Masque presented "Electra" February 25-28. "Electra," written by Sophocles and translated by acclaimed poet and scholar Anne Carson, tells the story of a young woman's struggle with passion and rage as she seeks to restore honor to the tarnished house of her murdered father. In true tragic fashion, Electra must battle with questions of right versus wrong, reason versus action, and staying silent versus speaking up. Re-invigorated with original music and stylized modern dance, this production promises a unique look at a play with themes that remain relevant in contemporary society. Read more »
