Junior Katie Johnson of Myersville, Md.
- What was your favorite experience on this trip?
“My favorite experience on this trip has been the connections we’ve made with people. Everywhere we go, people are so receptive and getting the chance to touch people’s lives in a way that is so special just warms my heart. Music can really truly touch the soul.”
- How has your perspective changed on this trip?
“Traveling gives you a new outlook and it reminds you that there is more out there than just your little world. We almost always think that we are not alone and it is possible to come together even from across an ocean.”
- What have you learned through your experiences?
“I can say that I’ve sung Mozart and Bach, but I can also say that I sang Mozart’s “Laudate Dominum” in Mozart’s church in Salzburg, Austria. Our experiences on this trip are so historical and special. I’ve learned so much about our music, where it comes from and how everything we do stylistically makes sense in a huge cathedral. It’s been so special and the end is always bittersweet.”
