“Surveying those perfect rows of grave markers at the Omaha Beach cemetery revealed to me at a gut level the enormity of the sacrifices made to assure the survival of the free world.”

  2. How has your perspective changed on this trip?
“I had imagined Germans as essentially a cold and heartless people, but I found them warm and inviting and eager to connect with us.”

  3. What have you learned through your experiences?
“I have heard all my life that music is the universal language.  I see now that this is definitely so.  As a non-musical person, I also appreciate now how many hours of toil are required to make performance look ‘easy.’ I am also more at ease with the idea of our youth inheriting the world  The beauty and energy of this group inspired me.”
