Friday, October 28

  • Throughout the day: Classes without Quizzes!
    Alumni Office, 1st floor Hedrick Administration Building
    Continue your Catawba education as you experience the talents of current Catawba faculty. Sit in on a class and learn something new! Come by the Alumni Office Homecoming Friday morning to pick up a list of available classes, times and locations...or request an emailed copy after October 1st by contacting Homecoming@catawba.edu.  

  • 12:30pm — Alumni Golf Tournament
    McCanless Golf Club of Salisbury 
    (3515 Stokes Ferry Road, Salisbury 28146)

    Start the weekend off right! Join us for a round of Captain's Choice golf, a delicious southern pig pickin', lots of fun and prizes.

    • Advance payment is required to reserve your spot. Please reserve early.

    • Teams of less than four will be placed with other golfers.

    • Pig pickin' and complimentary team photos begin at 11:30 before play begins. Please arrive early to check-in.

    • Players must be at least 21 years old. Not open to current students.

    • Be sure to register now ... this popular event is first come, first served.

    • Tee sponsorships are available. Contact Margaret Faust at 704.637.4201 or mfaust@catawba.edu.

    • $75/player, on or before October 17 $85/player, after October 17 $75/tee sponsorship

  • 8:00pm  — Blue Masque Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Reception
    Hedrick Little Theatre, Robertson College-Community Center
    Time to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of some theatre greats! Tapped for induction into the Hall of Fame are: Dr. Karl Hales, Kannan Menon '74, Patrick Orndorff '87, and Jasika Nicole Pruitt '02. Post-induction reception will be on Keppel stage...it's going to be a great night! $25/person

 

Saturday, October 29

*New Tailgating Option*
Join your alumni friends in "Tailgate Alley" before the football game. If you would like to reserve a yard sign to welcome and designate your group name (i.e. alumni from a team/dorm/class year, etc.) to your tailgate space, place your order by deadline with the Alumni Office and pick up on Homecoming Friday before 5 in the Alumni Office or Saturday morning before noon in the gym lobby. *Tailgate Alley = the grounds surrounding inner-campus drive from gymnasium to Woodson Hall.   $25/ sign

  • 10:00am-1:00pm  — Homecoming Check-In!
    Kirkland Lobby, Abernethy Physical Education Center
    Come to the gym lobby and see who has arrived from your Catawba years! Check-in, pick up your reserved tickets, get a nametag, mingle and sign the "Who's Here?" board. Your classmates will be looking for you!

  • 10:00am  — Campus Walk-about
    Welcome Center, foyer of Hedrick Administration Building
    Are you curious what some of the buildings are being used for these days? Bringing a prospective student with you to Homecoming? See the old and the new! Join the student-led walking tour of campus.

  • 10:00am-1:30pm  — Center for Entrepreneurship & Experiential Development (CEED) Lab Open House!
    Whitener Room, Cannon Student Center and the Tom E. and Martha H. Smith Patio
    Come see what the Ralph W. Ketner School of Business has been up to, check out the new CEED headquarters, and enjoy some food on the patio!

    Are you a DAS alumnus? Stop by for a light lunch and visit with current DAS members as they prepare hot dogs, brats, the trimmings, and soft drinks. Families are included!

  • 11:00am-1:00pm  — Homecoming Cookout with Student Academic Success
    Outdoor Volleyball Courts
    Current students and alumni please stop by to connect with staff from Academic Success at our first annual Homecoming Cookout. Faculty, staff, and student leaders and tutors will be cooking burgers and brats and serving cold drinks under a blue tent. Look for the banner!

  • 11:00am-1:00pm  — Barbecue Luncheon featuring local favorite "Gary's BBQ" of China Grove!

    Do not miss your chance to enjoy some of North Carolina's best pork barbecue with all the sides! Catch up with retired faculty and staff as well as your alumni friends. Presentation of the Distinguished Alumnus Awards will begin at noon. We appreciate your pre-registration! $10/person

  • 12 noon  — Distinguished Alumnus Awards
    Goodman Gymnasium, Abernethy Physical Education Center
    Given by the Alumni Association, these awards honor select individuals who have served their community, distinguished themselves in their profession, and have served the Catawba College community. Come discover the recipients, witness the presentations, and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments during the barbecue luncheon.

  • 12:30pm  — Calling ALL Alumni!
     Belk Track, Shuford Stadium
    Music major or not, you are invited to join the student choir in singing the National Anthem prior to the football game. Brief rehearsal begins at 12:30 p.m.

  • 1:00pm  — Class of 1966 . . . 50-YEAR REUNION!
    Hurley Press Box, Shuford Stadium
    Come celebrate your very special reunion as guests of President Lewis during the football game on Saturday. Your nametag and "Class of 1966" ribbon will grant you and one guest elevator access to the President's level of the Hurley Press Box. Please pre-register so we can have a packet waiting for you! *No football ticket purchase is required for you or your one guest...but please register in advance.

  • 1:30pm  — Football versus Brevard College!

    Come enjoy an exciting afternoon of football as we take on the BC Tornados!

  • 5:00pm  — Volleyball takes on the Pioneers of Tusculum College!

  • After the Football Game  — Class of 1976 Together Again!
    Hurley Room, Cannon Student Center

    In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Marie Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watch dials were the latest rage — until the girls who painted them began dying from a mysterious illness. Radium Girls offers a highly theatrical and unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.
