Students in the Honors class "Science and Culture" traveled to London during Spring Break in March 2017. Drs. Joe Poston (Biology) and Gordon Grant (English) led the trip, which focused on the history of the city with special attention to the growth of scientific discourse, particularly Charles Darwin and evolutionary theory, and how British culture responded to this new worldview. The group visited major landmarks and museums in addition to covering much of the city on foot, to extensively explore central London as well as more distant parts of the city such as Highgate Cemetery, Kew Gardens, and Down House.  Additionally, they made day-trips to the city of Salisbury and the nearby World Heritage site Stonehenge as well as the campus of Cambridge University.
