Alcorn, who lives in Salisbury and is an active member in First United Church of Christ there, received the award during a dinner held May 15 in the Center for the Environment on campus.

The Church/College Award was established in 2008 as a way for the College to recognize and express appreciation to persons who have served both the Church and the College in exemplary ways.

After graduating from Catawba, Alcorn earned his MBA from UNC-Charlotte. He began a business career that has led to where he is currently founder and CEO at Global Contact Services.

He has served on Catawba College Board of Trustees since 1999 and has served on several of its committees including Finance, Enrollment, and Audit, and has served on the board of the Chief’s Club and several Presidential Search teams. He serves as a board member of United Church Homes and Services, a member of the North Carolina State Board of Education, a board member of Families First, Salisbury Community Foundation, and the First United Church of Christ Foundation, and is active with Salisbury Academy, First Tee of Salisbury and the Boy Scouts.

Married for 25 years to wife Missie, a business owner in Salisbury, the couple has two children, Clark and Eleanor, both students at UNC-Chapel Hill.
