AfghanAs part of their efforts to raise funds for the 6th annual Thanksgiving Duck Draw, a service project to supply Thanksgiving meals to local families in need, the Office of Student Affairs is selling Catawba College afghans, or throws. The throws are 100% cotton, woven by a company in South Carolina. The generously-sized, approximately 48" by 68" throw features the words Catawba College and the feathered "C" athletics logo.

Student Affairs is extending the timeframe for orders to make this special item available to alumni for Christmas and holiday gift-giving.

  • Send checks to: Student Affairs Office, Catawba College, 2300 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.

  • The deadline to order is December 1st, 2009. (Funds from orders received after November 20th will go into next year's Duck Draw budget to purchase Thanksgiving dinners). Orders received after December 1st cannot be guaranteed for Christmas delivery.

  • Please clearly specify the name and address to which the item should be sent.

Last year, funds raised from the Thanksgiving Duck Draw project provided 120 local families with Thanksgiving dinner. The dinners consisted of a 10-12 lb turkey, baking pan, rice, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, stuffing mix and box of brownie mix.   Student Affairs worked with faculty & staff, local school agencies, and local churches to find families that need assistance during the holiday. The goal is to feed 150 families this year, which will bring the total number of families fed since the project’s inception to 650.
