Category: Academics, Events, Politics, Students

In a special, double edition of the Catawba College Community Forum, the College, together with the Salisbury Post and the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, will present candidates for the North Carolina General Assembly, along with candidates for local political offices on Tuesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 19. Both programs will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Tom Smith Auditorium. Dr. Michael Bitzer, Chairman of the Department of History and Politics at Catawba College, will moderate.

On Tuesday, October 17, Lorene Coates and Susan Morris, candidates for the State House seat representing the 77th District, will exchange views, along with candidates for the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education. Two evenings later, on October 19, Andrew Brock and Larry Brown, candidates for Rowan County's State Senate seat, will elaborate their positions on various issues, followed by all six candidates for the three available seats on the Rowan County Board of Commissioners.

If you would like to submit a question for the above candidates to consider, you may do so by mailing your question to: Editor, Salisbury Post, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145-4639. You may also submit your question by fax (704-639-0003) or e-mail (editor@salisburypost.com).

Make plans now to attend one or both of these candidate presentations on October 17 and October 19, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. (note the change from our usual time!) in Tom Smith Auditorium of Ralph W. Ketner Hall on the campus of Catawba College. Admission, as always, is free.
