Catawba College Alumnus Recognized for Teaching Excellence

charlesmuse.jpgDr. Charles T. Muse, Class of 1968, was recently recognized by Dr. Glenn Worthington, Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies at Brandman University for his teaching excellence in teaching Managerial Economics in Brandman University’s MBA program.

Brandman University is a part of the Chapman University System. Founded in 1861, Chapman University is one of California’s oldest, most prestigious private universities.

Dr. Muse has been teaching for Brandman University since 2011, teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses.  He has specialized in the MBA program teaching Managerial Economics; Corporate Responsibility, Ethics, and Sustainability; and Operations Management. He also served as a Competency Base Education Specialist concentrating in the area of supply management relationships in Brandman University’s newly developed competency base education four year degree in business.

Dr. Worthington stated that Dr. Muse’s, “engagement with students was excellent and you received exceptional comments about your teaching from students.” “Having great faculty like you really enhances our ability to meet student needs in our classes and in our degree programs. On behalf of the School of Business and Professional Studies faculty and students, thank you for all that you do. We’re glad you’re on board with our team.”

Dr. Muse is very active in the Catawba College community currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Board of Visitors, Past Chair of the Advisory Board of the Ralph Ketner School of Business, a member of the Board of Trustee’s Academic Quality Committee and active in other Catawba events to include “Mock Interviews” for juniors and seniors in the fall and spring semesters. 

Dr. Muse is currently an online adjunct faculty member and Competency Base Education Specialist for the School of Business at Brandman University in Irvine, CA a division of Chapman University. He also serves as a Brigade Commander for the South Carolina State Guard having been appointed a Colonel last year by Governor Nickki Haley.  He is married to the former Susan Hutchins. They have three adult sons, Thomas an associate with the Justice Works of Conway, South Carolina; Alex an Inspector for the North Carolina DMV who is currently deployed to Cuba with the North Carolina Special Detachment of Military Police, and Matthew, a 2012 American Idol contestant and actor who has worked on many productions in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia to include Under the Dome, Sleepy Hallow, Turn, Secrets and Lies, Legends and Lies and the Longest Ride.
