Catawba College to Host Campaign 2008 Day

VoteLocal, state and national campaigns will be represented on Catawba College's campus during Campaign 2008 Day, slated from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30 in the Cannon Student Center. Representatives from the Rowan County Board of Elections will be on hand to register students to vote.

Political representatives, local party operatives and volunteer seekers will join campus officials in encouraging students to register to vote and learn more about opportunities to be involved in the political process and campaigns.

According to Catawba Dean of Students W. Dan Sullivan, holding one large Campaign Day event "allows all political perspectives and groups to have a fair shot at reaching students and will also create enthusiasm among students about the upcoming elections."

To date, the following parties and candidates have indicated that they will participate in Campaign 2008 Day:

    ;
  • Andrew Brock, N.C. Senate District 34 Republican incumbent

Catawba College's Campaign 2008 Day will be followed on Thursday, October 16 with a Mock Presidential Election to be held on campus. During that event, Catawba College students, in the pivotal 18-25 year old category, will cast 'mock ballots' for the presidential candidate of their choice.
