Catawba College received the Salisbury Community Appearance Commission Award for the month of October 2007 for the appearance of the Hedrick Hall Lawn/Garden area. Catawba Grounds Supervisor Jeff Hartley, and his staff, Gene Trexler and Sawaha Brown, are responsible for this area.

About the Grounds Department
The grounds department prides itself on the beautification of approximately 270 wooded acres that contain over 30 buildings. Our wide array of duties includes planting seasonal flower beds, pruning, trimming shrubbery, landscaping, pesticide application, and mowing.

We also are responsible for waste removal, departmental moves, deliveries and transportation. We strive to create a positive outdoor environment of the faculty, staff, students, families and visitors to the college.
