Phil Kirk to be Honored by National Kidney Foundation of N.C.

WHAT:
The National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina presents "Speak Up while Phil Kirk Takes the Hot Seat," a gentle roast of Phil Kirk, vice president of external relations for Catawba College, chairman emeritus of the State Board of Education and former state senator. During the event, Kirk will be roasted by Sen. James T. Broyhill, Gov. James B. Hunt, Jr., Gov. James E. Holshouser, Jr. and is four daughters, Angela Prenoveau, Wendi Hamilton, Ashlee Kirk and Allison Kirk. Governor James G. Martin will speak in a video presentation.

The event will be emceed by Betty Ray McCain and will feature Dr. Steve Zaytoun as auctioneer.

WHY:
By honoring Kirk for his contributions to education and business in North Carolina, the National Kidney Foundation will raise awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its two primary causes- hypertension and diabetes. As public education is a critical tool for prevention and early detection, the NKF is partnering with business leaders to draw attention to the ever-increasing problem.
