Thirteen students from Catawba College's School of Evening and Graduate Studies were commissioned as Junior Marshals in an April 20 ceremony. Dean of the School of Evening and Graduate Studies, Dr. Edith Bolick, and College Marshal, Professor David Pulliam, officiated at the ceremony.

It was a very familiar figure who delivered the homily at Catawba College's Baccalaureate Service on May 10. On the eve of their graduation, College Chaplain and Senior Vice President, the Reverend Dr. Ken Clapp '70, advised the graduates to "Take wing by giving God that place of greatest importance in your lives and allowing God to direct you and call the shots."

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory will be the speaker for Catawba College's 10 a.m. Graduation Exercise to be held Saturday, May 11 in Keppel Auditorium of the Robertson College-Community Center. McCrory is a 1978 alumnus of the college and a former seven-term mayor of Charlotte. McCrory's schedule will only permit him to speak at the college's 10 a.m. exercise at which the college will award baccalaureate degrees to 191 students who are graduating from the traditional day program...

A total of 267 students have been named to the Dean's List for the 2012 Fall semester at Catawba College, according to Dr. W. Richard Stephens, Jr., Provost of the College. Traditional Day program students named to the Dean's List have achieved a 3.5 grade point average in 15 or more semester hours. School of Evening and Graduate Studies students named have achieved a 3.5 grade point average in at least 12 semester hours.

In a formal pinning ceremony held in late October, thirty eight Catawba College students and two faculty members were accepted into the Department of Teacher Education at the college. The ceremony, held in Hedrick Little Theatre, was sponsored by the Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE). Ms. Laura Ritchie, a 2011 Catawba alumna, shared remarks about her perspective on teaching and a reception followed in the Peeler Crystal Lounge.

Catawba College Professor Richard Browne recently shared insights in his presentation "Strategy vs. Execution – which matters more in achieving global business success?" while lecturing to the Master's of Business class at the Universidad Americana, Managua, Nicaragua. Browne, who lectures in International Business at Catawba's Ketner School of Business, utilized case studies from several Fortune 500 companies to highlight the factors for winning at business in the global arena.

Learn why birth to five years of age are a child's most formative years at Catawba College's November Community Forum. Deborah K. Howell, M.Ed., Assistant Director at Partners in Learning Child Development and Family Resource Center in Salisbury, will be the keynote speaker at the event scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Tom Smith Auditorium on the Catawba campus.

Two hundred and twenty three students enrolled for summer school classes at Catawba College. Of this total, 116 came from the day program and 107 from the School of Evening and Graduate Studies.
