Financial Aid Award Letter
The Catawba College Financial Aid Award Letter will come in the mail to new students looking to enroll in the undergraduate, day program who have already been accepted to Catawba and submitted either a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or a FAFSA Waiver.
This Financial Aid Award Letter will have detailed information for students regarding the financial aid they qualify for based on the admissions process, financial need, and other Catawba scholarships a student might have applied for or been eligible for through participation in programs or specific majors on campus. The Financial Aid Award Letter will also have an Estimated Out-of-Pocket Cost for the academic year for students to help them understand what their total investment in a Catawba College experience will be. Additionally, the Financial Aid Award Letter will have explanations of each type of financial aid award so students understand what types of financial aid they have qualified for and whether the awards must be repaid.
Financial Aid Award Letter Example:
This Financial Aid Award Letter shows the Total Direct Charges, which is the amount a student is charged for the academic year based on either the on or off campus housing status chosen. Then a student will see the Total Amount of Scholarship and Gift Financial Aid they qualify for shown directly below the Total Direct Charges. If a student only wants to accept the Total Amount of Scholarship and Gift Financial Aid, which would only include free money from scholarships and grants, then the Financial Aid Award Letter provides the Estimated Out-of-Pocket Costs with only Scholarship and Gift Aid in blue. If a student has been offered Self-Help Financial Aid, which can include things like campus employment or Federal Work-Study and Federal Loans, then they can chose to accept these financial aid awards to lower their Estimated Out-of-Pocket Costs. If a student choses to accept everything the Financial Aid Office has offered in the Total Self-Help Financial Aid Section, the Financial Aid Award Letter provides a new Estimated Out-of-Pocket Cost for the academic year in blue. To view a breakdown of the individual financial aid awards that make up each section on the Financial Aid Award Letter, students may visit their Money Tab on their Catawba College CatLink Portal.
The Financial Aid Award Letter also includes important information regarding financial aid requirements and deadlines. The Financial Aid Office strongly encourages students to read through the entire Financial Aid Award Packet to ensure all the financial aid a student qualifies for is finalized.
