Technology Information for Campus Community

Note: Most of the links below will require you to log in to the CatLink portal  with your Catawba username and password. For best results, log into CatLink first. The most straight-forward way to access technology information, user guides, and video tutorials is to log in to the CatLink portal and peruse the resources on the Technology  tab. The IT Resources channel on this tab is a fairly comprehensive index of what's available.


  • Blackboard Learning System
    Blackboard is a web-based software package that allows faculty to post assignments and class information for students, and create an online learning environment that augments the classroom learning experience


  • Catawba ONE Card 
    Photo ID card issued to all students and employees that provides building access, cafeteria meal plan access, and pre-paid funds that can be used to make on-campus purchases, as well as off-campus purchases at select area merchants. Includes:  
    • Overview of the ONE card
    • List of Off-Campus Merchants
    • FAQs
    • How to add money to your card
    • Be sure to visit the Catawba ONE Card channel on the CatLink Money tab for info on your meal plan and usage, fund balances, transaction history, and to report your card lost or stolen


  • CatLink
    Through this web portal...            
    • Students register for classes and gain secure access to such information as their class schedule, grades, degree audit, and registration holds
    • Faculty advisors gain secure access to data on the students they are advising
    • Faculty and staff gain secure access to class rosters
    • The campus community has access to an online course catalog and a class openings service that dynamically reflects the schedule of classes offered in a term and the seats available in each class
    • Instructors submit grades
    • Students evaluate courses and instructors; instructors review the summarized results
    • Links to all the major web-based applications on campus are available from the Home tab
  •  MyCatawba Mobile App

MyCatawba is available for download on Apple (App Store) and Android (Google Play) devices. While many features are available to anyone that installs the app (guest access), many features require that you log in with your Catawba credentials (click on the Person icon in the upper right hand corner to log in).

  • IT Resources Channel on the Technology tab of CatLink

    • A one-page guide to FootPrints, the online system for submitting and tracking IT service requests, located at
    • CatawbAlerts guide on how to  set up your phone(s) to receive campus emergency notifications via text and/or voice messaging
    • For employees:

    Learn how to use the Microsoft Office suite of products that includes Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and more. Learn how to use Office 365 which extends Office functionality to the cloud on any device.

    Technology-related policies and procedures. Includes:

  • Remote Readiness: Working or Teaching Remotely/Online
    Information about being working and teaching remotely and/or online, as well as being prepared in the event that work or academic functions are disrupted for a prolonged period of time and it is necessary to work or teach a class off campus. 

  • SafeAssign
    Information about the software available through Blackboard that allows faculty to check student papers against databases of previously published materials to determine when original sources have not been correctly cited and/or plagiarism may have occurred


  • Scheduled Systems/Networking Downtime
    Information about scheduled downtime for Catawba software systems and/or the network can be found on the Home tab of CatLink in the Campus Announcements channel.


  • Student Computers
    Information for students about making their  computing devices  work with the Catawba network. Includes:
