2021 NCHA Conference

North Carolina Honors Association
(NCHA) Conference
September 24-25, 2021

Registration Now Open

Our conference theme emphasizes community engagement in a time of disruption and significant periods of social isolation from campus, local, national, and global communities. Engagement has many meanings bound together by the relational, and therefore social, nature of the term. Engagement involves defining a unit in terms of its place in an overarching whole, and at times actuating these individual components to give life and meaning to each of the other members and the whole.

On our campuses, Honors programs are coming back “on line” as we bring students and faculty back to traditional positions supporting program operations. Within our institutions, Honors students and faculty encourage campus community members across academic disciplines to engage one another, fill important roles linking campuses to wider communities through service, and draw connections across the state through our shared work of building a North Carolina Honors Association of people-scholars.

While not our original hope, we have determined the best course of action is to follow a virtual format. This unplanned transition, one in a long train of unanticipated challenges of the past year and a half, also reminds us of the call heard by every human to join together. In the long history of humanity, we have always met our common call through ever-evolving ways to rebuild, reconnect, and reengage one another in the face of each new barrier to shared life.
