Evening /Adult Bachelor Degree Students Have Unique Needs
Catawba College offers a unique course for working adult evening students called PACE: Preparing Adults for Career Excellence.
It’s designed to help you succeed in the classroom and beyond, introducing technology and practical skills that employers demand from bachelor degree graduates.
We know that most adult students are career focused and are returning to college to improve and increase their job opportunities. We also know that returning to college or transferring to a four-year bachelor’s degree can be daunting and scary. PACE is designed to help with all of those goals and challenges.
The name PACE includes “career” because classes focus on job skills you need will need in your future. All jobs today are bigger and have higher demands, especially for adult students changing jobs and seeking new opportunities.
The PACE course includes a semester-long orientation that covers technology, online classes, career services, library, internships, research, writing, and how to manage the format and requirements of an accelerated bachelor degree program. You will gain experience in the technology and expectations of online courses through using the online technology in a face-to-face class. We have thousands of graduates so we can help you learn how to be successful in our adult degree program.
PACE will develop critical thinking and analysis skills you will use in upper-level college courses. These are the same skills you need in management of a business if you are seeking a business bachelor degree, and of an early childhood classroom if you are seeking an education bachelor degree.
We developed PACE with you in mind. This unique course helps you develop a plan for managing the pace (hence the name) and expectations of meeting deadlines through developing a project management process that is useful at work and in school. We are only successful if you are successful. PACE helps us all reach those goals.
