Online and Evening Student Transfer Excellence Award Scholarships

You may be eligible for our Transfer Excellence Award scholarship!

The Transfer Excellence Award recognizes outstanding transfer students who wish to earn their bachelor degree from Catawba College in the Division of Distance and Online Education (DDOE). The award is designed to provide financial assistance to students who have demonstrated excellence in prior college-level studies and who can indicate strong potential in their future career. The criteria for the award is primarily academic performance in your prior college and university studies. The awards are limited to no more than four semesters at up to $500 per semester, for a maximum award of $2000 per student.  Full-time student status and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are required to maintain the scholarship while enrolled at Catawba College in the Division of Distance and Online Education. This is a competitive application process so every item in the application is important, including your essay. 

To apply, use the form below. The priority application deadline is June 1st for fall semesters and November 1st for spring semesters; later applications are subject to availability of funds.

NOTE: This scholarship is available for incoming transfer students only who have earned at least 45 transferrable credit hours. Current students are not eligible for the transfer scholarship

Please list all colleges previously attended, regardless of number of credit hours or type of study. You must be an admitted student to apply for the scholarship. Your Catawba application is only complete after we have received official transcripts from all college and universities attended. We will use the transcripts from your Catawba application as part of your scholarship application. If you have not yet applied and been accepted, you can complete the scholarship application but it will not be reviewed and considered until you are admitted to Catawba College.

Submit a Writing Sample
You must submit a minimum 500 word essay on your career experience to date and how you expect this degree to enhance your future career. We are mostly interested in how you have tied your past education to prior career success and how you will tie your additional education to future career success. Indications of how you have and/or will support the success of your employer(s) is also important. Your application will not be complete and cannot be considered until the essay is received.
