Overview

STEM Master’s Program

If you are a practicing teacher, licensed in middle grades mathematics, middle grades science, secondary mathematics, or secondary comprehensive science, and would like to pursue a master’s degree, our program may be the one you have been looking for.

The Department of Teacher Education at Catawba College invites you to submit an application for its Master of Education Program in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).


 


Advantages

  • A 33-semester-hour curriculum based on developing 21st century knowledge, skills, and dispositions

  • A two-year cohort program (2 courses per semester, including summer)STEM-logos.jpg

  • Each course is one night per week from 4:00-6:50 p.m. during fall and spring semesters; each summer session is three weeks/five days per week/three hours per day

  • A strong faculty who are committed to the professional development of middle and high school science and math teachers

  • Opportunities for individualized study and practical applications in the teacher's classroom

  • Personal attention from professors

  • Free tuition for Rowan-Salisbury School System (RSSS) teachers who have been selected as scholarship recipients

  • Reasonable tuition for non-RSSS teachers: Currently $185.00 per semester hour

  • Well-equipped, technologically-current classrooms

  • Convenient, well-lighted parking available in front of the classroom building

  • Parking ($25.00 per semester)

  • Fiscal consideration of additional costs, such as limited textbook costs

  • Passing PRAXIS or NTE scores, but no need to produce GRE or Miller Analogies scores

  • Three hours of National Board Certification credit may be accepted
