Center for Entrepreneurship and Experiential Development (CEED)
The major theme of the Entrepreneurial program in the Ralph W. Ketner School of Business at Catawba College is "critical thinking and experiential learning."
Designed to integrate academic excellence, creativity, innovation, and hands-on experience, the program gives students a detailed understanding of, and necessary skills, to run a small business, to launch their own venture, to take a leadership role in a venture, or to take on an intrapreneurial role in a mature organization. Additionally, they acquire core capabilities through their experience including: creative and critical thinking, the ability to recognize and generate new venture ideas and an understanding of acquiring resources.
Students have access to the CEED Lab, a place where students that can justify acceptance of their concepts through a formal review process may receive up to $5000 of funding to bring their ideas to market. During the "incubation and acceleration" phases of the CEED Lab, the students are paired with a CEED mentor, provided corporate partner time, have access to pro-bono services (accounting, legal and graphic), and will be provided training to pitch their idea/concept for success.
