Catawba College Communication Profiles
Victoria Whetzel ’17
Communication major with Theatre Arts minor. Member of Catawba Singers, Helen Foil Beard Society, Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Arts Honor Society, Dance Ensemble, and Note-Taker for Student Conduct Board.
"Shout out to my liberal arts education because it taught me how to be a person, how to understand those who were different than me, how to appreciate others for their quirks, passions and beliefs, how to take risks, how to fail, and how to succeed. Catawba never told me no. Catawba never stopped me, instead Catawba supported and loved me for four unforgettable years.
"If you want to have the freedom to design an ideal life for yourself, Catawba makes it possible for you to do so. Catawba won’t do it for you, but Catawba will help you along the way."
Employed as a Casting Assistant at Sharp Entertainment in New York City.

Jonathan Ruiz '18
Communication Minor (Biology Major)
“I wanted to do something different academically outside of the sciences so I chose Communication as my minor. That field is broad and the work environment in Communication can take you in a variety of directions. It helped me develop as an individual, overcome adversity, and put myself in the forefront to take the shot.”
Ruiz ultimately wants to pursue a career in food safety with his Biology degree and his Communication minor will come in handy to relay that information to various employees at a business.
