Writing Major with Minors in Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and English; Four-year Varsity Swimmer for the Catawba Indians; Whitener Award Recipient; Member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society.

"No matter what career you pursue, strong writing skills will ALWAYS be valuable. Catawba challenged me to write outside of my comfort zone. Furthermore, it taught me that it's good to accept failure, so long as you learn something along the way. The English department is comprised of talented and passionate individuals who take a personal interest in all their students. I am truly grateful for the writing experience Catawba has given me. Catawba taught me the rules of writing, but it also taught me when to break them. "

Andrew is the author of the thriller/suspense novel, Beneath the Surface. After graduation he earned two masters degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He currently works as an accountant and writes in his spare time. He credits Catawba's strong balance of professional/technical and creative writing courses for making him well-equipped to succeed in the diverse tasks he experiences in his workplace.

"Catawba's ability to provide direct interaction with the faculty, both in and out of class, was a key point for my attendance and it has been an invaluable experience that not only enriched the courses, but allowed me to form great relationships with some truly passionate professors."
