Non-Traditional Students

What are Non-Traditional Students?

All Re-Entering, Re-Activating, Post-Baccalaureate (non degree seeking), Auditing, and Transient students are classified as non-traditional students. These groups should use the Day Undergraduate Student Application to apply for admission to Catawba College. Read more detailed information below:

Re-Entering Students

Who is Eligible?

Students who were previously enrolled as a degree seeking student at Catawba, but left prior to completing their degree who seek readmission to the College. Re-entering students have not attended any other accredited college or university since leaving Catawba. If students have attempted college work since leaving Catawba, they should apply as a Transfer Student.

 

How to Apply

  1. Apply online by going to www.catawba.edu/apply
    Apply Now
  2. Click on Undergraduate Day Student Application.
  3. Create a portal if student has not applied to Catawba previously. Log in to portal if one was already created.
  4. Once logged in, click on Apply Online at the top of the screen.
  5. Select the New Abbreviated Day Application (this is the second option).
  6. Fill out the Enrollment Information screen:
      • Catawba Program: Undergraduate
      • Entry Term: Term taking the course
      • Intended Major: Major considering when enrolling full time in college
      • Click Submit
  7. Start the application
  8. You will be entering as: Re-entering
  9. Complete the remainder of the application and submit

 

Application Materials

Items needed for admission are:

  • None. There will be an internal document that will need to be signed.
  • Student must not have a balance or need to petition ACPOL in order to be admitted
  • Student Affairs and Title IX may have conditions for admission or reuse admission completely.
  • Student may not be eligible to receive financial aid upon their return.

 

Fees

  • Standard Full-Time rate and fees if Full-Time, student may return Part-Time (not eligible for Financial aid or housing) and pay the per credit hour rate.
Post-Baccalaureate Students
Post-Baccalaureate Students

Who is Eligible?

Baccalaureate degree recipients seeking to take additional college courses. Must have received a Bachelor Degree or higher.

 

How to Apply

  1. Apply online by going to www.catawba.edu/apply
    Apply Now
  2. Click on Undergraduate Day Student Application.
  3. Create a portal if student has not applied to Catawba previously. Log in to portal if one was already created.
  4. Once logged in, click on Apply Online at the top of the screen.
  5. Select the New Abbreviated Day Application (this is the second option).
  6. Fill out the Enrollment Information screen:
    • Catawba Program: Undergraduate
    • Entry Term: Term taking the course
    • Intended Major: Major considering when enrolling full time in college
    • Click Submit
  7. Start the application
  8. You will be entering as: Post Bac
  9. Complete the remainder of the application and submit

 

Application Materials

Items needed for admission are:

  • Final college transcript displaying graduation date and degree.
  • If student is degree seeking, they mush supply ALL college transcripts from each college attended.
  • Student must be receiving a different degree than they previously had received.

 

Transient Students
Transient Students

Who is Eligible?

Full-time college students enrolled at other institutions of higher learning who seek to take up to one semester of work at Catawba, but will be returning to their “home” institutions. Transient students are not seeking a degree from Catawba and are considering visiting students.

 

How to Apply

  1. Apply online by going to www.catawba.edu/apply

  2. Click on Undergraduate Day Student Application.
  3. Create a portal if student has not applied to Catawba previously. Log in to portal if one was already created.
  4. Once logged in, click on Apply Online at the top of the screen.
  5. Select the New Abbreviated Day Application (this is the second option).
  6. Fill out the Enrollment Information screen:
      • Catawba Program: Undergraduate
      • Entry Term: Term taking the course
      • Intended Major: Major considering when enrolling full time in college
      • Click Submit
  7. Start the application
  8. You will be entering as: Transient
  9. Complete the remainder of the application and submit

 

Application Materials

Items needed for admission are:

  • A letter of good standing   
    or
  • College Transcript from the current institute of attendance 


International Transient Students must submit the following:

  • Original documents in person at Catawba College for photocopy or provide a notarized copy of the student’s passport, F-1 visa and current I-20. If you do not have an F-1 visa, you will not be allowed to enroll as a transient student, without exception; you may not study on a B-1/B-2 visitor or tourist visa.
  • Transient Clearance Form must be completed by your Designated School Official (DSO) from your home institution and submitted to Catawba College’s Admissions Office. This grants permission for you to come to Catawba College while still on your home institution’s I-20.
Auditing Students

Who is Eligible?

Students who choose to enroll in a college course without receiving academic credit. Catawba College encourages life-long learning and allows students seeking educational enrichment to submit an online abbreviated application to audit a college course once permission from the instructor has been given.

 

How to Apply

  2. Click on Undergraduate Day Student Application.
  3. Create a portal if student has not applied to Catawba previously. Log in to portal if one was already created.
  4. Once logged in, click on Apply Online at the top of the screen.
  5. Select the New Abbreviated Day Application (this is the second option).
