Thanks to former Catawba College Football player Cory Johnson for helping to support OUR
Catawba Chiefs Club. Cory is currently the head coach at Clinton High School in Clinton, NC, and finished the 2021 season with an impressive 8-3 record. During his playing career at Catawba College, Johnson was a decorated student-athlete. He was honored as a First Team All-SAC linebacker, First Team Don Hansen All-American, SAC Defensive Player of the Year, and CoSIDA Southeast Region Defensive Player of the Year at the end of his 2012 senior season. He holds the school record for tackles in a single season with 138 stops.
Thanks to former Catawba Football players Calvin Hall and Casey Hall for helping to support our Catawba Chiefs Club. Calvin Hall was promoted to the rank of Captain at the Charlotte Fire Department earlier this month. He has enjoyed eleven years in the profession and is a true testament of what student-athletes from Catawba College can accomplish. As a defensive back, Calvin recorded 32 tackles and one interception during his final season in 2009 under Coach Chip Hester. His brother Casey, a 2012 Catawba graduate, also played on the gridiron with him. Casey accumulated close to 100 tackles during his final two seasons in 2010 and 2011, while also getting carries at running back.
