Athletic Projects & Updates

After 20 years, with the help and support from the Gordon Kirkland family, we were able to move the Gordon Kirkand Sr. monument to a much more visible place at Shuford Stadium. This will also help with the players entering/exiting from Hayes Field House to Shuford Stadium, Kirkland Field, and the Alcorn Family Turf Field.

Thanks to  Dr.Martha Kirkland West ‘59, Gordon Kirkland, Jr. ‘70, and David Kirkland ‘12 for helping to make this project happen.

Busy day on Saturday at Shuford Stadium – Kirkland Field – Alcorn Turf.
- 8am Catawba Football Practice
- 10am Catawba Women’s Lacrosse Practice
- 12:00pm Catawba Men’s Lacrosse Practice
- 3:00pm Salisbury High School vs. Oak Grove football scrimmage

With this past week's very rainy weather, no one would have been practicing at all without the Alcorn Family Turf Field - it is already helping out the community with the Salisbury High School football scrimmage.  After all the teams used the Alcorn Turf, the field is in perfect condition to use again on Sunday - no mowing, no irrigation, no painting the lines, and no muddy/wet field.

 Everyone deserves a little happiness.
