Chiefs Club -

Updates from the Chiefs Club: April 13, 2020

Dr. David Nelson named Catawba President: Read More

I will continue to send updates and information out about our Chiefs Club and Catawba Athletics as possible through June 2020. Depending on the amount of updates, our newsletter may not go out every single week.

Our 2020-2021 Chiefs Club membership information will go out in June. Our main effort this coming year will be to get back in touch with our former Catawba student-athletes.  We sure could use the support of our current Chiefs Club membership to help us find new members for 2020-2021. This past year, we had 222 former Catawba student-athletes join our Catawba Chiefs Club! If each of those helped us find just one of their former teammates to join in 2020-2021, we would again continue to grow stronger. Everything we raise goes back to help support our athletic scholarships - some of the same athletic scholarships that helped many of our former students attend Catawba College.

Each week, we send an e-newsletter that contains a results, schedules, special events, athletic projects, and a lot of pictures. You can join for as little as $100, and your gift is tax deductible.

Every new Chiefs Club member who is a former student-athlete will also receive one of our "C and Feather" logo lapel pins. It is a very nice way to show your support for Catawba and that you are a former Catawba student-athlete.

The fundraising campaign is still underway to raise money to turf Kirkland Field at Shuford Stadium.  We are planning (and hoping) to start this project before May 1st, 2020.  We sure could use your support to help fund this much needed project!

Catawba Spirit Marching Band
From the Director:

Catawba College Spirit Bands

Good Morning,
My name is Tara Harris, I am the Director of Athletic Bands here at Catawba College. I oversee the Marching band and Pep band. I wanted to reach out to you about the Catawba Spirit Marching Band.

The Catawba Spirit Marching Band is a great group of students studying in many different degree fields. We are a corps style marching band and we also have a color guard. We play at all home football games and play for special events on and off campus. We practice twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-830pm and we also practice prior to the football games. We have a week-long band camp the week before school starts that you will get to be a part of. You will be able to come in early and get set up in your dorm room before a lot of the students return. We spend each day working on exercises, drill, and music (pre-game, halftime show and stand tunes) with some fun activities added in for team building. Committing to the band is an important step that I hope you will take. Do not forget that being a part of the marching band is free and there is a $750 scholarship for being a member of the Catawba Spirit Marching Band and $500 for participating in the spirit basketball pep band.

I am looking for all instruments. Including all woodwinds, brass, percussion, and colorguard.

I would also like to invite Faculty and Staff, if you play an instrument...we want you! Please, come join this fun group. You can play with us in the stands or march our field show...or both! Please, consider joining us for our fall football season!

I have attached a form that I would love for you to fill out if you would like to join the marching band so that I can start getting ready to have you as part of our team! I look forward to meeting you soon and hope you have a great week!
