Updates from the Chiefs Club: September 16, 2019

As of today, our Catawba Chiefs Club membership is at 504 which includes 141 new members. This puts us right at 142 members ahead of where we were at the same time last year.

The second stage of our challenge to reach 750 members starts this week. We need to surpass 600 members. Each member over 600 through October 1st, 2019 will be matched with a $200 gift from Bill Graham.

Here we go again: Catawba Chiefs Club 2019-2020! For the past two years, OUR Chiefs Club membership has been over 500 members. This year, our goal is to have over 750 Chiefs Club members. We need the support from our past Chiefs Club members, as well as our former student-athletes.

We also have a Chiefs Club Challenge from our Catawba Board of Trustees Chair Bill Graham, who is also a former student-athlete at Catawba College.

From Bill Graham: In an effort to support and help the Chief's Club grow, I will contribute $100 (unrestricted) for every new Chief's Club member added from now until September 10th, 2019 in order to get to 600 members. After the 600 number has been reached, I will contribute $200 to the Chief's Club for every new member thereafter and $300 for each member over the 750 membership number. This offer expires October 1st, 2019. A new member is defined as anyone that has not been a Chiefs Club member for at least one year.

Our Chiefs Club membership is growing. Forward this email to anyone you think would be interested in helping support OUR Catawba Chiefs Club.

Over 525 current Catawba student-athletes, 23 varsity teams, two JV teams, 117 athletic scholarships, a weekly Chiefs Club newsletter, and your gift to the Catawba Chiefs Club is tax-deductible. The funds raised by the Catawba Chiefs Club help support the 117 athletic scholarships that Catawba College offers.

We welcome two first-time members of our Chiefs Club Members this week - two good ones and both former student-athletes:

Lauren Deters
- Played on the Catawba Women’s Tennis team
- M.S. in Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation (2009), UNC-Greensboro
- Ph.D. in Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation (2017), UNC-Greensboro

Thanks for your support of OUR Catawba Chiefs Club, Lauren!

David Thomas
- Former Catawba Baseball player
- 2019 Catawba Sports Hall of Fame inductee

Thanks for your support of our Catawba Chiefs Club, David!

Trent Bradshaw and Keith Knight set up a phone call campaign using the current Catawba Baseball team members to call the former Catawba Baseball players. We had about 35 players each making calls to six former players. We ended up making around 180 calls. So far from the phone campaign, we have 14 former baseball players that will be joining our Catawba Chiefs Club.

A lot of connections existed before the calls started, such as playing on the same field, in the same clubhouse, attending the same school, the same winning tradition, etc. It was a very good night, with 14 new members, as well as excellent team building time for the current Catawba Baseball team.

Special thanks to Trent Bradshaw, Keith Knight, the Catawba Baseball coaching staff, and especially again to Jason Smith, who provided the meal for the Catawba Baseball team.

A lot of callback messages were left for us, so our numbers will more than likely be growing from this phone campaign during the next few days.

Planning, organization, and manpower all made this a very successful first-time event!
