Updates from the Chiefs Club: September 23, 2019

Coach David Bennett
Bennett was an assistant Catawba Football coach from 1991-1994 and head coach from 1995-2001. He had 41 games as an assistant coach, 80 as a head coach. He was also a player and coach at Presbyterian, giving him four games. Coach Bennett was there for 125 of 1000 Catawba Football games. He was SAC Coach of the Year four times – 1995, 1999, 2000, and 2001. Coach Bennett will be back this homecoming (October 25-26) celebrating two of the teams he coached: the 1995 Catawba Men’s Golf Team (SAC Champions) and the 1999 Catawba Football team (11-2). They were the first team to advance to the NCAA II playoffs. Thanks for taking the time to share this picture and for coming back for Homecoming Weekend 2019.

2004 Catawba Women’s Basketball SAC Tournament Champions

OUR Catawba Chiefs Club continues to grow each week. We need to get to over 600 members by October 1st to meet the challenge from Bill Graham, Chair of our Board of Trustees.

If each of our current Chiefs Club members could help us find a few more people willing to join and help support our Catawba Chiefs Club, we would reach our goal by October 1st. Ask a friend who could come with you to our Catawba home games, ask a former Catawba classmate, or ask a former teammate to join.

What a good reason to help get back in touch with a few people who would join OUR Catawba Chiefs Club if you asked them to. Ask someone you know who owns a local business to consider joining. Our business listing is growing along with our Chiefs Club membership, and those businesses are getting a lot of exposure each Monday with our growing Chiefs Club membership e-newsletter.

We also need the support from our former Catawba student-athletes to meet this goal and our overall goal to have over 750 members in OUR Catawba Chiefs Club. If you are a former Catawba student-athlete, ask some of your teammates to join. Help give back to support the same athletic scholarships they received while playing on a team at Catawba.

As of today, our Catawba Chiefs Club membership is at 526 which includes 152 new members. This puts us right at 146 members ahead of where we were at the same time last year.

Memberships start at only $100. You gift is tax-deductible and will also place you on our weekly Chiefs Club e-newsletter that goes out each Monday. The funds we raise with our Catawba Chiefs Club goes back to help support our athletic scholarships.

Over 525 current Catawba student-athletes, 23 varsity teams, two JV teams, 117 athletic scholarships, a weekly Chiefs Club newsletter, and your gift to the Catawba Chiefs Club is tax-deductible. The funds raised by the Catawba Chiefs Club help support the 117 athletic scholarships that Catawba College offers.

It would really help our efforts if you would forward this message to anyone you think would consider joining and helping us get one step closer to OUR goal of 750 members.

The second stage of our challenge to reach 750 members starts this week. We need to surpass 600 members. Each member over 600 through October 1st, 2019 will be matched with a $200 gift from Bill Graham.
