hicks.jpgWell hello there Catawba! It's been quite a while since my last blog post! I can't believe it's almost March, this semester is flying... whether I'm flying with it or not is a different story...

ANYWAY I'm back! This semester has already been crazy busy, I mean good Lord I am still trying to catch up with last month. That seems to be a theme, is it not? Everyone I talk to always says "I know I'm sorry, I've just been so busy..." And while that can be a good thing to have something to do all the time (or maybe that's just me) it can also be hard to handle. Not only are we full time students, we also have relationships and issues that we have to deal with that happen once we FINALLY get home at 12 to 1:00 in the morning. People sometimes forget that it's not that easy to just get up, go to class, eat lunch, go to another class, eat dinner, do homework, go to sleep and repeat. When those days come where it's much harder than others, what is your stress reliever? What is the one thing that you can do for, at the most 10 minutes, and forget about life and the struggle bus you're driving? Mine is my friends. I have always found that I am happiest when people I love and respect and who love and respect me in return surround me. However, when you surround yourself with negative people, that can take a toll on someone's mind and body. Why would you want to be around someone who treats you less than what you are which is amazing, beautiful and perfect in your own way? Sure people have their off days, but no matter what day you or someone else is having, don't let them make you think you are anything short of extraordinary.

Recently, a young boy in my hometown died very suddenly and it shocked many people. I did not personally know this boy, but I didn't need to be his friend to know that his sudden death was very tragic. I'm not sure of all the details of his death, but my point in bringing up this boy is to show you that life is far too short to be unhappy. Be with people who love you for you, ALL OF YOU. Be with people who respect your opinions and love your flaws. Be with people who respect you. Live your dreams instead of just choosing a career to pay the bills. Sing randomly during your day, I hear it's healthy for you. Dance like no one is watching when you hear a song you love. I'm sure some of you reading this are thinking, "Wow okay jeez calm down woman." All I'm saying is when you feel like the world is turning away from you and you don't feel loved or you feel like you've lost yourself, go to people who know you, the real you, and let them remind you of who you are. Let them tell you what a great person you are because you are loved. Do not let anyone tell you differently. I end this blog post with a quote that I always turn to, to remind me of the people who are always with me and who love me for everything I am. I hope this quote sticks with you and reminds you of how much you are loved, and don't worry I'll keep you posted.

"You must always remember…you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we are apart I will always be with you."
