Category: Academics, Students

Four Catawba College students, all members of the institution's N.C. Omicron Chapter of Alpha Chi, a national college honor scholarship society, recently attended the 2007 National Convention of that society in San Antonio, Texas. The convention was held March 15-17.

Each of the four Catawba students made presentations at the convention which was also attended by Catawba faculty sponsor, Dr. Bethany Sinnott. The students and their presentations are as follows:  senior Victoria Hamilton of Wake Forest, "Saintly Representations;" junior Savanna Farris of Rockwell, "When History Should Repeat Itself…;" senior Tiffany Cox of O'Fallon, Ill., "My Mouth Says No, but My Body Says Yes:  Relationships and Body Language;" and senior Elisa Alfieri of Salisbury, "The Politics of Shakespeare."

Catawba's Omicron Chapter of Alpha Chi was founded in May 1978 with the induction of 13 members. Alpha Chi inducts no more than the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors from all academic fields. Founded in 1922, the society has active chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities in 45 states and Puerto Rico.
