Catawba College's Danceworks 2005 Set for April 26 and 27

Seventeen originally choreographed pieces will be performed during Catawba College’s Danceworks slated at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 26 and 27 in Hedrick Theatre on campus. The event, produced almost solely by a Dance Ensemble class taught by Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Missy Barnes, is free and open to the public.
Students worked to choreograph 16 of the pieces, while Barnes produced one. Those students include senior Jennifer Reiff of Wilmington; senior David Loudermilk of Richmond, Va.; senior Anthony Johnson of Burlington; senior Shea Walker of Salisbury; senior Bree Raymond of Springhill, Fla.; sophomore Ellen Devine of Milwaukee, Wis.; sophomore Aly Martorana of Glassboro, N.J.; and senior Donna Tulloch of Salisbury. The works include dance steps ranging from tap to modern and includes a version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with remixes of Britney Spears’ songs. Dr. Beth Homan, also an assistant professor of theatre arts, makes a special cameo appearance during the performance.
Students from Professor Chris Zink’s lighting design class are serving as lighting designers for Danceworks. These students include senior Taylor Adams of Galveston, Texas; sophomore Kathleen Elizabeth Bruton of Hiddenite; junior Nicholas Ditter of New Berlin, Wis.; senior Taylor Hohman of Lexington, Ky.; sophomore William Randall of Tifton, Ga.; sophomore Giuseppe Ritorto of Greensboro; senior Donna Tulloch of Salisbury; and junior Joseph Yow of High Point.
